A Second and Third round of DDoS attacks on IAD3 and IAD4 data centers has been taking place on Saturday 2/22. The attacks appear to have been mitigated late Saturday and the disruptions were far less impacting than the Friday 2/21 attacks.
This is an update report from our Bandwidth Partners:
This issue is related to a DDOS attack that is effecting multiple customers. At this time, the incident is not on-going. We'll have a more thorough update. We're working with the FBI and our DDoS mitigation partners as dozens of IPs have been systematically targeted all day with some attacks in excess of 750Gbps. We have been automatically mitigating the however incidentally as the attacks ramp up before the mitigation takes effect, some impact was experienced as you see. You will receive a more comprehensive report after we've completed our analysis. In the meantime, we're still on high alert for any repeat events so that we can verify our systems are trapping the condition promptly with minimal impact whatsoever. - Resolved ·

Please be advised that this incident has been remediated and we expect no further issues to be experienced going forward.
Senior engineers concluded after their investigation that this events disruption was caused by DDoS attacks. Changes have been made to mitigate a future attack to one specific destination/target and engineers took more aggressive measures to prevent that traffic from even entering our network. Additionally, there were four (4) incidents that were discovered, all targeting that specific destination which caused the impact due to bandwidth congestion for each incident. Below are the time frames that were captured:

Currently the IAD Public network is experiencing short 1-2 minute disruptions. Two (2) such disruptions have occurred between 10am and 11:15am. Our team is investigating
